Joyce Ilene Jones BRANCH Sunrise ~ July 12, 1969 Sunset ~ March 19, 2012 Joyce Ilene Jones Branch passed away peacefully Monday, March 19, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Joyce grew up in Seattle, Washington, graduated from Garfield High School and University of Washington. Joyce was a young entrepreneur in the food service industry and had a long illustrious career in real estate. Excellence and professionalism were her passions. Throughout her life, Joyce was a caring and devoted mother, partner, daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter and friend. Joyce is survived by her partner, Antonette Loyd; son, Noah Loyd Branch; parents, Andrew and Bernetta Branch; niece, DaeShauwna (whom she helped raise); brothers, Darrick Jones Branch, Andrew Jr., Anthony and Breland Branch, sisters, Anedra Wyle (Michael), and Andrea Branch. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, John A. Jones; grandparents, John Edward and Iva Jones and Aunt Joyce Jones (her namesake). Joyce leaves to cherish her memories,many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Viewing: Monday, March 26, 2012, 3:00-8:00 pm at Dayspring-Fitch Funeral Home, Rainier Valley Chapel, 5503 Rainier Ave. S., Seattle, WA. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1634 19th Ave., Seattle, WA. Repast at Garfield Community Center, 2:00-5:00 pm, 2323 E. Cherry, Seattle, WA.

Merry Christmas my darling girl. I don't know how anything can be "Merry" with two of our kids being gone. It has been 15 years since "Askia's" home going and I still miss that boy very much. He will be 35 on December 30th. Wow. You two kiss and hug each other and enjoy being with the "King of Kings' and Lord of Lords". Remember that red and black little work fleece jacket that you wore when working on your homes, well I wear it in the mornings to get warm and I think of you. I also have one thumb painted in honor of you and a red beaded bracelet that I wear on my right wrist next to"Askia's" first grade I.D. bracelet. Like your mommy, it is hard and tears still come for me missing my kid especially during Christmas time but Jesus has helped me manage my grief and pain. He'll help your mommy too. Recently I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a 7 day vacation and it was really hot there with the temp in the 90”s and very high humidity. I felt like a moist French Fry. You would have loved all the beautiful painted buildings and houses. I don't know if I will ever make to Paris, but you and I had our own little taste of Paris outside on the patio of the Kline Galland Rehab Center. The times that I “babysat” with you are treasured especially winning at Bingo and winning candy bars and pennies. Be well my love and we all will be "Home" soon. I will miss your store bought chocolate cake with "sprinkles" that I hated on top for my birthday cake that you bought for me. How I wish that you could be here this year to do it all over again. I had the privilege of knowing Joyce for about a dozen years. She had a warm smile, keen mind, and endless curiosity. Joyce was also a perpetual motion machine! Her calm courage during her multi-year battle with fatal cancer was truly inspirational. Even cancer failed to slow her down. Awesome! She will be sorely missed.

I met Joyce when she was about 8yo My oldest sister and her cousin Denise played basketball together at Miller Community Center they had to babysit that day. So excited I was to have another little girl to play with I couldn't wait, when My sister and I arrived Joyce and Denise came outside to meet us, Joyce had a basketball in her hand. My lil heart dropped I was looking forward to playing dolls. I ask Joyce: Do you want to play? She said: No I'm playing basketball and that was the extent or our conversation LOL as the years went by I continue to have so much respect for a person who goes for what she wants and stay true to her heart. We will all miss seeing you around! You are a star! By the way you blew my mind when you and Ann came to my birthday party and I didn't get the chance to tell you that was a big deal to me. Even though I tried to party like a rock star, your presence was appreciated.

I am so pleased to say I had the chance to meet Joyce at the DogHouse and one thing we had in common was the Guess acid washed Jean jacket with the leather pockets and our Cole Haan leather flats and boat shoes!
