Adora Nelson Obituary

Adora Faye Nelson

Adora Faye Nelson passed away peacefully on December 7, 2012 with her family at her side. She was known as Faye to many of her family and friends, was born on September 8, 1927 in Bellingham, Washington to Mable Faye and Joseph Urbick. She was the first of four much loved children. Faye attended Bellingham High School and then moved to Seattle to attend Seattle University where she earned her nursing degree.

While working at Providence Hospital, Faye met her future husband, Charles Nelson, who was in a full body cast, as he was recovering from a serious car accident. Faye and Charles were married in 1950 and started their family in Seattle. They moved to Shoreline in 1954 where they continued to grow their family to include five children and numerous pets.

Faye loved spending time in her yard, creating beautiful gardens for her children to enjoy. Among the many hobbies that she was passionate about were arts, crafts, and ceramics. Faye enjoyed many experiences with her family, such as time at Richmond Beach together. She also spent time volunteering at Saint Luke's Parish, assisting with cleaning and other services.

Faye was widowed at the age of 48. Soon after, she met Ralph Brown who became a wonderful friend for eighteen years until his death. They enjoyed many experiences together, such as beach combing, an adventurous Alaskan cruise, and dining out. Faye had a healthy appetite for food - but was able to remain petite all of her life!

Faye loved spending time with her grandchildren, and especially enjoyed the time with her great grandchild, Cooper. She also had a wonderful sense of humor, as exemplified by when she answered the question of "How are you feeling?" with "I feel with my hands!" or "As fine as the fuzz on a bumble bee's belly"!

Preceded in death by her spouse of 25 years, Charles Nelson, and brother, Wally Urbick.

Survived by five children, Sue Johnston, Linda Nelson (Jimm), Sharon Ann Nelson (Ron), Chuck Nelson (Jennifer), and Richard Nelson (Carolyn), four grandchildren, Jeremy, Michael, Stephen (Ashlee) and Bryanna, one great grandchild, Cooper.

Survived by siblings, JoAnne Furnas (Del) and Margy Riecken, and sister-in-law Carol Urbick.

Services are as follows: Visitation at St. Luke Catholic Church begins at 10am, Wednesday, December 12, followed there at 11am by a Funeral Mass and Reception. An Interment following at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA.
