Anne Carroll Obituary

Anne Marie Carroll

Anne Marie Carroll's nine month battle with cancer ended May 23rd. Annie was born in Seattle on January 29, 1961 and lived her entire life on Queen Anne Hill until moving to Shoreline eight years ago. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1979 and worked in the accounting departments of several Seattle law firms. She is remembered by her friends and large extended family as a kind and gentle spirit. She had a passion for flowers and floral design and loved creating beautiful arrangements and centerpieces for friends and relatives. She even created the flowers for family and friends' weddings.

Annie loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed the little ones who would scream "Yay! Annie's here!" upon her arrival. Selecting the perfect gift for friends and relatives was a cherished and earnest pursuit that gave her great joy. Annie selected gifts only after careful consideration and her talent for finding "the perfect gift" was unmatched.

Annie loved to dance. She loved her cats. And she treasured her family. She is survived by her mother Anne M. Carroll, her siblings and spouses Tim Carroll, Sheila Kini (Bill), Eileen Carroll (Ray Kehl), Geraldine Ingalls (Dave), John Carroll (Marinelly), Maureen Wallwork (Buster), Patrick Carroll, Marty Carroll, Colleen Holbrook (Chuck), Bridget Tynanes (Maurice), and Michael Carroll (Jeannie Sargent), and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Annie is preceded in death by her father Martin E. Carroll, sister Cathleen Sarrett, and sister-in-law Arlene Carroll.

A funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (Univ. District) on Saturday, June 1st at 11:00 a.m. with reception following. Gifts in Annie's memory may be made to Pasado's Safe Haven or Catholic Near East Welfare Association.

I think of her often. We worked closely together at the HB Law firm - and I remember fondly our almost daily visits to Starbucks where we would commiserate with each other about who we worked for!
" Gentle Spirit" describes her perfectly.

I still remember Anne - frequently.
She and I were truly a "team" at work in a law firm in Seattle. I now only wish I had been able to comfort her in those last 9 months. She was such a sweet person - and an honest and open person. She would often confide in me her frustrations in work at the law firm - as we would go downstairs and have coffee together. I miss her - a lot!!

Thank you, Annie, for taking us to "your" park when we were little and making holiday cookies for all of us! You were always so nice to us - and to our Mom.

Anne - you are remembered fondly by your childhood neighbors - The Millers. Our dad recently died of cancer and it just doesn't seem fair, the same thing happened to you. We know we'll see you in heaven, where everything "unfair" will be understood --,with no tears. We love you, Annie, and will see you soon!

Annie faced her cancer with such courage and strength. She was a well-informed patient, reading so much material on treatments and nutrition and did her very best at making decisions that affected her care. I am grateful I had the time to spend with Anne like I did - we saw a lot of each other as we drove to her many appointments over the months. We laughed our heads off and lunched as often as we could! We cried and we hugged. And we told each other how much we meant to each other, as often as we could. We dreamed a lot, too. Dreamed about where we would go once she was in remission - Ireland!! I will hold Anne close in my heart and rejoice that I had such a good friend all these years. She was a true gem, in so many ways. I will miss her more than words can say.
