Betty May Lamb

Betty May Lamb passed away on Monday October 27, 2014 from complications as a result of Alzheimer's.

Betty was born in Brockton Massachusetts on July 8, 1925 and was one of two siblings born to William and Marguerite Whitten. The family moved to Walla Walla, Washington and then to Seattle where Betty attended Roosevelt High School and graduated in 1944. She attended the University of Washington and worked as a fashion model and commercial artist for big departments stores such as Frederick and Nelson and the Bon Marche.

In 1947 she married Loys Walter Lamb whom she knew since she was just 10 years old. They were blessed with five children; Christine Lamb, Jeffrey Lamb, Karen (Lamb) Owen, Julie Lamb and Randy Lamb. The family resided almost fifty years in the community of Innis Arden within Shoreline, Washington. In addition to the five children, Betty is survived by six grandchildren and five plus great grandchildren.

Betty was very proud of her family's heritage and was extremely active in the American Historical Society of the Seattle Chapter of the Germans from Russia. She was an incredible homemaker and caring for her family was her life's priority. She loved to cook and followed her own mother in that regard. She was known for her beautifully decorated cakes, exquisite German dishes and delightful desserts, apple kuchen was one of her favorites.

She also had a deep love and appreciation for the arts. While attending the University she declared art as her major. She was also a very talented painter herself and created many beautiful outdoor landscapes with oils and watercolors. Her lovely works will long be enjoyed in her memory by her family.

The family will be hosting a memorial service and reception at First Lutheran Church and School of Richmond Beach on Eighth Avenue in Shoreline on Saturday November 15th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested any donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
