Clinton McMahan Obituary

Clinton M. McMahan

Born October 25, 1922 in Seattle, passed away October 10, 3013.

Clinton grew up in Oroville, Washington and later attended the University of Washington, graduating with two engineering degrees.

Clint worked as a purchasing agent for 35 years. He was proud of his service as an officer on the Destroyer USS Hobby during WW II.

During dangerous duty in the South Pacific he developed a strong sense of comradeship with his shipmates and attended numerous Hobby reunions. In 1944 the ship survived the worst typhoon in 500 years of American maritime history. Clinton was devoted to his wife Mercein for 59 years until her passing in 2009. Proud of his three children and six grandchildren, he was delighted to be able to experience his great granddaughter Lucia's first year of life. He led a full life, traveled widely with Mercein, and enjoyed fishing and sports.

AN AVID HUSKY FAN! A shy person when young he made up for it in his senior years becoming curious, friendly, and outgoing.

His family wishes to thank the Group Health Hospice Team, the Shoreline Unitarian Church Care Team, and The Washington Care Center Staff.

I miss going to church with my grandfather. He was a big part of that community. Every time we went to church together he would stand up and let everybody know that I was there with him. He had the best sense of humor and was very smart.
