Dorothy Kathryn Anderson, 98 passed peacefully away on March 21, 2015 at the Park Shore in Madison Park, Seattle where she was a resident.

Born in Wichita, KS on September 17, 1916 to parents Clarence Demps Mountz and Rebecca Pearl Hughes of Peck, Kansas. Her mother, Rebecca traveled by train to Washington state in September 1908 to marry Clarence who was homesteading with his brother in the hills near Sunnyside, WA.

Dorothy's childhood was spent in the town of Sunnyside. She is the last surviving sister of the four Mountz girls, Muriel Elizabeth Berger, Marjorie Pearl Wheelon and Roberta (Bobbe) Janet Anderson. In the 1920's the family enjoyed camping in the outdoors around the Klickitat River fishing and picking huckleberries, traveling by car to Yellowstone National Park and at the age of 11 she climbed Mt. Adams. Dorothy's life long love of baseball started when her father took the preteen to Seattle to watch Babe Ruth play an exhibition game. In later years she rarely missed watching or listening to the Mariner's games. Her father was a produce and potatoes wholesaler before the Depression closed the business and they moved to Seattle. Dorothy graduated in 1934 from Roosevelt High School and attended courses at the University of Washington.

During WWII she worked as an office supervisor at Boeing, before accepting a position as a dental office assistant where she met and married Irving Douglas Anderson, DMD of Seattle. While they raised two children, they were active in the Seattle Yacht Club, enjoyed dancing as members of Town and Gown and extended family gatherings. She taught 4th grade Sunday school classes when the family lived in the Richmond Beach, Shoreline area. Dorothy enjoyed traveling with her family, highlights included visiting the Holy Land with her mother and daughter and Italy and Southern France with her son and daughter-in-law. After 45 years of marriage, Irving passed away in 1996 at the age of 92.

Dorothy is survived by son Howard Douglas Anderson, wife Robbie Anderson of Seattle, and daughter Muriel Ida (Mia) Anderson of Arlington, VA. She also leaves behind a niece, Bonnie Wheelon Foss of Puyallup; nephew Charles Burton Wheelon of Vancouver and their children and grandchildren, as well as numerous Anderson nieces, nephews and their families.

Dorothy is resting peacefully along side her parents in the Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery Seattle. A celebration of her life will be held in September.
