Dorothy McGladrey

Dorothy McGladrey, age 99 of Edmonds, Washington passed away peacefully on May 29, 2018.

Dorothy was born on October 25,

1918 in Marpole, British Columbia, Canada to Charles and Myra McLean. She weighed 3# after being delivered under a kerosene lantern and placed in a shoe box lined with cotton batten, while outside, hearses lined up one behind the other carrying those who died from the notorious flu epidemic of 1918.

The family moved to the United States when she was 4 years old. She became a US citizen residing in Washington and Alaska. Dorothy married the love of her life in 1938, had 3 daughters in 4 years and remained happily married for 59 years, until Millard's passing in 1997.

Dorothy attended high school in Monroe where she proved to be an outstanding athlete, cheerleader and singer. She excelled in tennis, softball, volleyball and basketball and earned the coveted Athletic Pillow awarded by Snohomish County to female high school athletes of recognition.

Her primary career was a homemaker but worked part time for Shoreline School district for many years.

She and Millard had three daughters: Judy Knight (Jerry), Sally Bjornson (David) and Chris Imbler (Dave) 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren and counting...

After Millard died Dorothy chose to be baptized and become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She attended the Temple frequently being sealed to Millard and others.

Preceded in death by: Millard and her parents, also her sister Pearl Elsie McLean Horn and her brother Charles Ralph McLean, and one of her grandchildren, Travis Cochran.
