Dylis Wiley-Chase Obituary

Dylis G. WILEY- Chase

Dylis G. Wiley-Chase, age 91, died on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Swedish / Edmonds Hospital completing a circle, having been born at Swedish Hospital in Seattle on December 29, 1925. Dylis was raised in Seattle and graduated from Ballard High School with the class of 1944. She went to work at U.S Post Office and retired as a manager after 37+ years of service.

Dylis had a heart for caring for people. She spent many years living nearby and caring for her mother, Linia (Wiley) Croft and stepfather, George W. Croft. It wasn't until after they passed away that she took the big step and married for the first time at the age of 74 to Gordon L. Chase in 2000, She had no children of her own but was a mother to many. Every one of her many nieces and nephews knew they were one of her "children". For many years the cousins were treated to a week in the summer at her home on Pine Lake in Issaquah. As they grew into adults, she became a confidante and best friend to most of them.

Her marriage to Gordon was a late blessing in her life. She finally had the opportunity to travel the world and enjoyed many adventures by his side.

Dylis was a hard worker with seemingly endless energy. At 91 she was still cooking meals, shopping frequently, and tending to her flowers with loving care. Although she didn't like being called it, we considered her the "Matriarch" of the family. She will be missed greatly by her family and the many friends she accumulated throughout her life.

Dylis was a member of St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, the Edmonds Senior Center, the Teddy Bear Club, and the Retired Post Office Employees organization. She also assisted the Edmonds Senior Swingers Orchestra of which her husband was a member. Dylis is survived by her husband Gordon Chase of Edmonds; her step-son Gary Chase, her nephews Gary Croft (Susan) of Whidbey Island, Steven Croft (Debby) of Arlington, nieces Sandy (Croft) Rollman of Mount Vernon, and Linda Watkins of Richland.

At her request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 722 N 145th St, Shoreline WA 98133 or charity of your choice.

Family will gather for a celebration of her life at some date in the future.

Will miss you so much Dylis and will keep a close watch (from afar) on the love of your life, Gordie. Does not seem possible you could be gone and will always treasure the times we spent together. Tell my Mom, Betty, hello in Heaven and to all the other relatives too who have passed.
