Edith Swenson Obituary

Edith M. Swenson

Edith Mae (Anderson) Swenson, age 75, died on July 6, 2016 in Boise, Idaho of complications from multiple myeloma. Edith was born on November 25, 1940 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Milton and Gladys Anderson. She attended Luther College, Wahoo, Nebraska, and graduated from Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska.

Edi married Gordon Swenson of Seattle on August 26, 1961 in Funk, Nebraska. They raised their two daughters in Shoreline, Washington, and moved to Boise in 1994. Edi worked as a registered nurse through most of her adult life, including many years at Northwest Hospital in Seattle and several years at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise.

With Gordon, Edi was a lifelong active Lutheran church member, most recently at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Boise. In Boise, Edi also was a member of the Saturday Fortnightly Club. Edi loved to sew and quilt, was a church musician and supporter of the arts, and cherished each member of her family and her many friends.

Edi is survived by Gordon, her husband of nearly 55 years; daughters Karin Swenson-Moore (Nicholas Moore) of Mercer Island and Jeannette (Chase) Crichton of Beaverton, Oregon; grandchildren Grant (Marta) Crichton, Laurel (Jason) Mulkin and Brita Moore; great-grandson Judah Crichton; siblings Char Taggart, Ramona Voutas, Devona Brown, and Bryce Anderson and their families; and numerous extended family.

Edi's life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 1:00 pm at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 3430 N. Maple Grove Road, Boise, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the King of Glory Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Edie was a lady of many interests. I remember playing golf with her in Boise on a very hot day. After the game we two couples stopped at a restaurant and each enjoyed a milk shake. Fun times!

I remember Edi as a neighbor, church member, and a nurse. When Troy was in St. Alphonsus following a traumatic brain injury, she often stopped by before or after work and always asked if there was something she could do.She lived her faith and was always very cheerful and positive. My sympathy to Gordon and family.

The best big sister in the world has gone home to be with her Lord. Her steadfast love of family and faith in God showed no matter what she was doing and with whom she was surrounded.
May God hold her treasured husband, precious daughters and their husbands, cherished grandchildren and treasured great grandson in His loving arms forever as memories are shared and cherished. Edith is truly in the heavenly choir of angels. I love all. Ramona / Aunt Mo
