Elizabeth Eckmann Obituary

Elizabeth Dorothea (Dode) ECKMANN

Age 95, passed away March 3, 2013 in Shoreline, Wa. Born May 11, 1917 to Shannon B Mitchell and Otillia Hoelling Mitchell in North Bend Oregon. The family moved to Seattle when she was 11 and settled on Queen Anne Hill where she attended St Anne's Grade School. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1935 and attended the University of Washington where she met John Carson Eckmann. They married Feb. 27, 1943 in New Haven, CT, where he was attending Yale.

Eventually they moved to Kirkland and lived for 50 years in a house they built on Lake Washington. Dode and Carson were founding members of St John Vianney Catholic Church where both were active in a variety of ministries. They loved sailing, skiing, hiking, square dancing, traveling, gardening and shared a love of their activities with their family.

Dode was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years and her sister, Patricia Herman. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was a loving, fun, talented, gracious lady who will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 18033 15th Place NE, Shoreline, WA 98155

Internment at Holyrood.
