I worked with Emily one summer. I found myself thinking of that summer this evening and her early passing. I wish the peace of Christ to her family.

I only met Emily one time. She happened to be at Sunset Hill Park in Ballard, where I live. Somehow, we immediately determined that our last names were similar. Mine is "Rutledge." It was strange. But, we seemed to "click" right away. She sent a beautiful email to me. If you would like to see it, please email me a note to: [email protected]

My first impression of Emily was when I saw her in 3rd grade Sunday School at Bethel Lutheran of Shoreline, and it was "who's that redhead who loves opening and singing"? By 9th grade we were best friends, and spent most of our free time together, as church activities were what held us together, and led to a lifelong friendship and even roommates in our 20s. She was my oldest friend and knew me better than anyone from my youth. Throughout the years, I could always depend on Emily to remember someone or something from our childhood, if I had forgotten. Now who will I turn to for those all important questions of our crazy youth? I will miss her great ability at trivia and her interpretation of the Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz! I know that her spirit will live on in the hearts she's touched here on earth. And as she's looking down on all of us from the stars above she's keeping those who've gone before us entertained. I will always miss you my childhood bestie! xxx Caroline

I'm so sorry for your loss. Emily was a funny, kind soul who left this world far too early. My prayers are with your family.
