Eva Halferty Obituary

Eva Mae Halferty

Eva Mae Halferty was born on December 4, 1930, in Wenatchee, Washington and passed away on September 29, 2014 in Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Wenatchee High School and worked as a bookkeeper throughout the years. She married Edward A. Halferty in Wenatchee on February 19, 1949 and they relocated to Western Washington, where they started their family. She was a very proud and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was very important to her. She was active in her church, where her faith resonated in the bible studies and choirs that she participated in. She was an active community member as well. Involved with PTA and scouting groups as her children grew up, she also volunteered in the public school classrooms of her grandchildren. She loved to sing, both as a choir member and soloist and tried her hand at painting and various arts and crafts. Always a great cook, her pies were her true claim to culinary fame. One of her favorite activities was the "Reader's Theater" at Ida Culver House in Broadview. Every Saturday afternoon she was there to read one of the main roles of the week's play. Board and card games were favorite pastimes but watching a Mariners Game trumped them all. It was fitting that she was able to see her team win in their last game of the season before moving on to meet up with her loving husband. They're probably dancing together in heaven now. She is survived by her daughter, Eileen Aagaard (George), son Frank Halferty (Melissa), grandchildren, Bryan Halferty (Kandice), Patrick Halferty (Hallie), Christopher Aagaard and great grandchildren, Zoey Halferty, Soren Halferty and Hatcher Halferty. A celebration of Eva's life will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11am at Richmond Beach Congregational Church, 1512 NW 195th St., Shoreline, Washington. Memorials in Eva's name can be made to Richmond Beach Congregational Church, 512 NW 195th St., Shoreline, Washington.

Eva visited my office at ICHB often to buy stamps, have a copy made or just to check out the candy dish. She always had a smile and happy thoughts. She save quarters in a little pill container and would use the quarters to buy stamps. I feel so lucky to have known her and will really miss her visits.

One of my fond memories of both Eva and Ed, were the hot chocolate parties they hosted after the grandchildren went trick-or-treating on Halloween night. We would show up, cold and tired as the kids, and they would serve hot chocolate and listen to all the stories. We will always remember her kindness and friendly spirit. -Eileen and Don Lim

Eva was one of my leading ladies in the Play Reading Group at Ida Culver House. No matter what her role--Professor Moriarty or Scout Finch--she always read with beautiful inflection and intelligence. We will miss her so much.
