Evelyn Russell Skaggs

Evelyn Russell SKAGGS Evelyn was born on January 30,1922 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She dedicated her life to serving others. She described her career as a homemaker, pastor's wife and secretary for various ministries or businesses. Yet, along with Wilbur, her husband, they served as missionaries in Egypt for 15 years. They founded and served the Maadi Community Church and Cairo Christian Fellowship in Cairo, Egypt. They served as a pastoral couple at several churches throughout the United States including Twin Falls, Idaho, Portland, Oregon, and Bickerville, Connecticut. For over a period of 40 years, she considered the Wallingford area her home. While living in Seattle, they served churches throughout the Seattle Area including Edmonds Church of God, Fairview Church and Woodland Park Church of God in Seattle, Tacoma First Church of God, and Paradise View Church of God in Tacoma. They were the founders of Kamp Kachess/Double K Boys Ranch in Easton, Washington, a program for dependent delinquent teenagers. Evelyn and her husband Wilbur traveled together as tour guides throughout the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia. She was active in various national and local levels of Women of the Church of God. After serving the Lord for many years, it was her time to meet her Savior on September 25, 2011 in Shoreline, Washington. She is survived by daughter Mary, daughter-in-law Sharon, grandchildren Steve, Byron and his wife Jennifer, Jamie and her husband Patrick, Stacey and her husband Scott, Steven and his wife Carrie, Jim, great grandchildren Caleb, Jonathan, Aubrianna, Marco, Lucas, and Benjamin, brothers Lyle and Ken and his wife Barbara, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Russell in 1993, loving husband of 58½ years, Wilbur, in 2002, and son-in-law, Mitch, in 2004. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., Edmonds Church of God, 8224 220th St. SW in Edmonds. Itwas Evelyn's request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a fund established to support global missions at the National Christian Foundation Kentucky and sent toPO Box 175, Lexington, KY, 40588.In the memo line, write "Skaggs Memorial Fund (#652394)".
