Frederick Neuman Obituary

Frederick D. Neuman

Frederick (Rick) D. Neuman, 62, passed away on October 19, 2016 in Edmonds, WA after a courageous 7 month battle with Pancreatic cancer. He grew up in Southern CA, and still has a brother and sister there. Also, a sister who lives here locally. He went to Shoreline High School, class of '72. He served in the US Army from '71 - '74. He was a carpenter by trade, and built his family 6 beautiful homes in the Seattle area, finally settling in Edmonds. They also had some vacation homes in Chelan and in Kona, Hawaii over the years. Anyone who knew Rick, knew he LOVED fishing! He fished everywhere from Los Cabos, to Canada, Alaska and off the Big Island of Hawaii. Of them all though, he loved Possession Bay the best. His boat, the "Kona Joe" is in the Edmonds Marina. He also loved Music, and loved to go and play his drum set. He and Scott Babbit started bncc, inc. in 1999, and between them, the Company flourished. Scott being the 'office' guy, Rick the 'field' guy. It was a perfect marriage. Rick seemed to be able to pick them. He is survived by wife of 40 years, Nancy; son, Warrick, son, Casey (BreAnne), and daughter Inga (Kyle) Werttemberger. And, one grandson. His family was the most important thing to him. The family is planning a service for him on Friday, November 18th, at 2:00pm at the Edmonds Yacht Club. He also grew to know the LORD. All of the prayers for him were very much appreciated and made these last months much more bearable. He also appreciated all of the love that his friends and colleagues showed him. He was quite the man, and many considered him his best friend, or even a father figure. He is proceeded in death by his Father, Richard C. and Mother Flora.

Remembrances can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

My very deepest sympathies to your family in the wake of Rick's battle with cancer and for your loss. I never had the honor of meeting Rick Neuman, but have heard him described as a "hero", "the best", and "amazing". He seemed like an incredibly remarkable person who was so deeply loved and honored by his family, respected by his peers, and revered by all who had the privilege to know him.

It was during the beginning of eighth grade in 1967 when Rick & I first met. We shared a common bond, based upon the fact that we had both emigrated to Washington state from Southern California with our families that summer.
I had an old 1930s drumset, so I gave Rick a few rudimentary "lessons" - which he took to like a regular Ringo ! I was primarily playing guitar then, and we eventually formed a band with various schoolmates which we named: "Celestial Navigation."
We mostly practiced in the basement at my place. It was there that he met one of my younger sister's friends. A young lady by the name of Nancy. The rest, as they say, is history ! 8-)
Rick & I spent countless hours together. I fondly remember fishing in local lakes. Our fishing endeavors eventually expanded to snorkel diving and spear fishing in the chilly waters of Puget Sound.
We shared many "adventures" over the intervening years - too numerous to elucidate here.
In short, while I will, of course, miss his being here in this temporary realm, I do not mourn his passing, but rather celebrate it as a sort-of "Graduation." One where he will most definitely again be in the presence of our Master and the Master's Father.
Hope the fishing is absolutely fantastic there Dean !

I knew Rick through my architectural firm. He also lived in Mukilteo when I lived there. He's was a great guy, and always cracked me up when he came into my office. So sorry to hear of his passing.

We are beyond saddened to hear about Rick's passing. We enjoyed spending time with Rick and Nancy while living on Mukilteo Lane. Neighborhood dinners, day-to-day moments and laughs while living life, on the "Lane". Rick was fun, funny and had a such a great sense of humor. His love for his family was so apparent. He was a work hard, play hard guy with a heart of gold.

Big Rick always made me feel welcome in his home, boat, condo...whatever. When I was going through some tough times, he was there to make me feel more like family instead of just a friend of his son! I love Big Rick! He is very special to me! I offer my love and support for the family. I love you all! I am deeply touched to know that he came to know the Lord personally in his last days. I can't wait to see how big your boat is in Heaven brother!! Thanks for being my friend and a father figure to me! Thank you Warrick for being my friend! Your Dad is and was One in a Million! He is proud of you brother!
