Grace Simmons Obituary
Irene passed peacefully in Lake Forest Park with family at her side on February 1, 2017. Irene was born September 26, 1928 to Norwegian parents Gunnar and Ingrid Skartland in Ballard. After graduating from the U of W she married Sigbjorn Laegreid in 1952 until widowed in 1975. Irene worked at Shoreline Community College as an executive secretary until her retirement. She married Hank Simmons in 1991. Irene treasured her family and became the official photographer and photo album curator.
She is survived by her husband Hank, sister Bernice Barron, children: Ingrid (Jim) Garhart, Sig Laegreid (Heidi), Sigrid Laegreid (Phoebe and Chloe), Roger Simmons, Craig Simmons, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grand-children, and many relatives in Washington and in Norway.
Memorial Services to be held at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, Seattle, Thursday, February 16th
at 1:00pm. Following the service a celebration of life will be held at the Leif Erikson Sons of Norway lodge in Ballard.
Remembrances can be made to Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 12509 27th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125 or Bridge Ministries, 12356 Northup Way #103, Bellevue, WA 98005.

Dear Irene. I'm so sorry I did not know of your passing. Such a sweet, caring person. I always told her that she would go straight to heaven. We worked together at Shoreline and our youngest daughters were friends. We laughed about her taking a call which she thought was her daughter who needed a few words but my daughter said that's not mom, she's too nice. I will miss her terribly. Goodbye my friend.
