I worked with Helen for most of my 22 year career at UW. She could have what some people called a gruff demeanor but I saw it as "take charge - you got the talkin' part done, now let's get the job done' - like me. She had a wealth of knowledge, so much life experience, and was so kind and helpful to me as a new RN. We talked for hours on our night shifts together. So many fond and loving memories.
