Howard Miller Obituary

Howard E. Miller

Howard E. Miller was 100 years old when he passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 7, 2014, after living a very rich and full life. He is predeceased by his wife, Patty, who died in 1982, and two daughters, Patty and Jessica. Howard is survived by his son, John (Karen) and their daughter Maia; his daughter, Janet, and her daughter and granddaughter, Lynnette and Kara Colvin; and a granddaughter, Erika McAllister (Rob) and their daughter Kaitlyn.

Born in Kansas City, MO, Howard excelled in scouting during his youth, and achieved Eagle Scout status. He attended the World Scout Jamboree in 1929 in England and traveled there by himself at age 15. Howard earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kansas and served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army during World War II in Chile.

Howard and Patty resided in Pasadena, CA, where they raised their family. In 1975, he was transferred to the Northwest, and they settled in Burien. For many years, Howard enjoyed traveling abroad with family and friends. He represented volunteers on the board at Highline Hospital, where he served for many years. He was active at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Burien. After he moved to north Seattle in 2004, he attended St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Shoreline.

A gentle, kind, patient, generous and loving husband, father and grandfather, Howard will be greatly missed. He lives on in all of our hearts.

A memorial will be held at St. Dunstan's at 11 am on January 17th. Donations may be made to St. Dunstan's or Providence Hospice of Seattle.
