James Bell Obituary

James Frank Bell

James Frank Bell of Seattle, Washington passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, June 14th, 2014. Born July 30th, 1927 in Spokane, Washington, he was the only son of the late Joseph and Rosa Bell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dolores (Pelton). He is survived by his four daughters Claudia Bell, Karen (Scott) Goll, Janet Bell, and Tracy (Richard) Bell McLellan and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. James graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Architectural Engineering, and remained a lifelong Cougar fan. He pursued his love of design into his 70's and was inspired by Asian architecture and the simple lines of Frank Lloyd Wright. In partnership with Don Greve;, (Bell & Greve; Architects), he designed many commercial and residential buildings but was most noted for his church commissions. He served as a U.S. Marine officer on the U.S.S. Chicago and continued his service in the Air Force reserves. He was a longtime member and designer of St. Stephen's Lutheran church of Shoreline, Washington. James was happiest drawing and sharing his love of design with his family. He enjoyed many good times with Dolores' family, brother John (Patti) and sister Claudia and their families. He and Dolores enjoyed museums, the arts, and the yearly trip to Ashland, Oregon to attend plays. He and his wife Dolores volunteered many summers at Camp Casey through the North Central Kiwanis club of Seattle. A memorial service will be announced at a later date with additional information found at www.washelli.com.

Memorial donations can be made to Kiwanis Memorial Fund, PO Box 31033 Seattle, WA 98103.
