Joanne Marie Brown, age 74, passed at her home in Fairfax Station, Virginia on Friday, September 30, 2016, leaving behind her husband David; her daughters Laura, Lisa, and Amy; four granddaughters Alexandra, Catherine, Ella, and Jane; sons-in-law Scott, Mark, and Doug; brothers Stephen and David; sisters-in-law Chris and Jane; and niece Samantha. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Harvey Bingham and Mrs. Mary Louise Bingham.

Joanne was born in Los Angeles, California, and she lived most of her childhood in Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Speech Therapy, and then she married her college sweetheart, Dave. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this year.

Joanne earned her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from George Washington University in 1982. She spent her working career as a Speech Pathologist specializing in childhood speech disorders.

Joanne maintained lifelong closeness with friends with whom she grew up. She corresponded regularly with her childhood girlfriends, who remained an essential part of her happiness over the years.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Shoreline, Washington, on October 21, 2016 at 11:00 am. A reception will be held at St. Luke's reception hall following the Mass.

The burial will be private.
