John was a wonderful human being. Always there when you needed a friend. Always there to make you laugh. Always there to straighten you out on things he felt, unfair to others. He was a deep sensitive guy. Very handsome and always a lot of fun. When I think of John, I smile and always will. I am just glad, I made it to his super 7 list of friends. I am creating a super list of friends now, because of John. I miss him. Your friend, Jan

John's family: I went to St. Marks with John and really enjoyed my time with him. I've heard of him from fellow St. Mark'ers over the past decades and he seems to be the same wonderful person I remember. I'm sorry for your loss, but I hope you know he made the best impression on those lives he's touched. I will always remember that smile and that caring nature.

To family and friends,
I am also saddened of the news and the loss we all feel in the passing of this great guy. Our paths did not cross much over the years since school, yet my memories are of a happy, considerate person that could make us all laugh and see the brighter side of any situation. This photo is a perfect reflection of how I remember John, a smile and laugh that was contagious! My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Heaven has been enriched with John's arrival! My memories of John from school are filled with smiles, jokes and laughs every time he was around and altho I hadn't seen him in a very long time our communications in FB seemed to take right up as if we were back in school again! I see by all of the wonderful sentiments this past week that he was LOVED and will be dearly missed!
Rest in peace John and thank you for a smile that was like no other!

To Velasco family,
John was a very dedicated loyal friend to many. His kind heart brought smiles to everyone he met. Last week he came by to help me do yard work and mow the lawn. He was always generous with his time to help others.
We grew up together playing Soccer, football and water skiing on Lake Washington. After traveling around the world on separate paths we reconnected back in Seattle and became fans of the Sounders FC. Routing for the Sounders brought great joy to John and I enjoyed attending games with him. Our memories together will always be remembered and your spirit will always be in my heart. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I am very saddened by the news of John's passing. I ran into John just a week before at a garage sale that he was having with friends. As I perused items I really did not need I heard a familiar voice, I looked up and there was John greeting me with that "John Mario Velasco" smile. It couldn't help but put a smile on one's own face.
The picture of him in this guest book couldn't be more perfect. It is just how I always think of John.
My thoughts and prayers are with John and his family.

Hello to John's family and friends. This is Tim Briggs, a longtime friend of John's from back in our Navy days in the early 80's. Many of my fondest lifelong memories are of my travels across the Mediterranean Sea with John. We shared a day in Nice, France with Aunt Yolanda and the family. Also many happy days and adventures with the Pinelli family in Naples.
John and I shared many happy times with my family in San Diego and periodically in Minnesota. We had recently re-connected and talked of meeting up again. It was a shock to learn of John's passing and I'm sure everyone is feeling the tremendous loss of a cherished friend. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Tim
