John Vukelich Obituary

John W. Vukelich

John passed away at the age of 90 on 02/15/2015 in Lake Forest Park, WA. He was born on 06/16/1924 in Minnesota to John and Mary Vukelich of Carson Lake, MN. In 1942 John graduated from Hibbing High School then enlisted in the Army and served in Europe during World War II. After being discharged from the Army he moved to Seattle where his sisters, Ann, Dana and Lil also lived. In Seattle he met Natalia Mikulich and they were married on August 13, 1949. Together they purchased property in Lake Forest Park, WA where they designed and built their home and raised their two children, Frances and John. Dad worked as a Roll designer for NW Steel Rolling Mills in Ballard and retired from there after 40 years of employment.

He enjoyed fishing, downhill skiing, dancing, camping and being with family and friends. John was a longtime member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, Local 439, the Elks, the Eagles and the Goodtimes Dance Club.

John was preceded in death by Natalia Vukelich, his wife of 31 years. He is survived by daughter Frances (Gerry) Johnstone and son John Vukelich, grandchildren Andy Johnstone and Kathleen Vukelich, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 27th at 11:00 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church 18033 15th Place NE, Shoreline, WA 98155.

Sorry to hear of John's passing. My mother Mary Vukelich (Guay) and myself always enjoyed watching him and his sisters dancing at the various Croatian functions. We are currently living in Arizona and will be unable to attend the service but will be praying for him this Friday.
