Julie McFarlane Obituary

Julie June McFarlane

Julie June McFarlane passed away at the age of 59 on November 24, 2017 after a 6-month battle with cancer. Julie was born in Tacoma, WA and graduated in 1976 from Rogers High School in Puyallup. She completed her Bachelor's Degree at Western Washington University. She has been a 25+ year resident of Shoreline.

Julie is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Craig McFarlane, daughters Kendra Cornejo and Marney Esslinger, Mother Cherie Daugherty, siblings Todd Daugherty and Leslie Carey, and preceded in death by her father Richard Daugherty. Julie recently retired from the Small Business Administration after 35 years of public service where she last served as deputy district director. She loved to take long walks, enjoyed camping, and traveling. Her travels included trips to England, Ireland, Scotland, France, and two trips to Italy.

A service to celebrate her life is planned for early January.

Julie was a beautiful lady and had a wonderful spirit! She was level headed and a great resource and friend for me to lean on. We went to see Maroon 5 together when we were on a trip in Ohio. Everytime I hear them, I think of her! She will be missed dearly.

Julie and I were married for 33 years, we were best friends, lovers, inseparable and it breaks my heart to write this. We both retired the first week of January 2017 and were able to take an almost month-long road trip to Oregon, California, Arizona and Nevada before she fell ill with stage 4 cancer in early June. This isn't what was suppose to happen but it did. Julie illness quickly advanced, making her home bound and requiring a wheel chair to get around. I was always at her side during this difficult time, doing what ever I could to make her comfortable. The medical team determined the bile ducts were the primary source of the cancer and she was treated with chemotherapy. The treatment initially appeared to control the number and growth of the tumors but eventually the cancer took her life. I miss her more than I can say and I know that she is loved by just about everyone that met her. We loved to travel both locally and abroad, walked every day, and were always planning our next trip. I tried posting this earlier but it didn't show up

While I didn't see her outside of RHS reunions, I remember Julie from high school. She had a wonderful smile, a contagious laugh and a warm heart. She will be in my thoughts and prayers.
