Kathleen Murray Frantilla

Kathleen passed away February 10, 2015 in Lake Forest Park, Washington. Born in Strome, Alberta on April 14, 1919, she earned her teaching certificate at the University of Alberta in 1943. She taught high school in Medicine Hat, Alberta and Cranbrook, British Columbia before receiving her BA from the University of Western Ontario. After moving to the United States, she received masters degrees in English (1953) and Librarianship (1963) from the University of Washington. She met her husband Bill in Seattle and they married in 1953. Kathleen became a US citizen in 1957. She taught in the English Department at Highline Community College from 1969 to 1983. After retiring she enjoyed sailing in the Pacific Northwest and extensive traveling with her husband. Fond of entertaining her deep circle of friends with gourmet meals, Kathleen had a quick wit as well as a determined spirit. She passed on a love of literature, the arts and the outdoors. She is survived by her husband Bill of 61 years, daughters Enid, Anne (Peter Yates), grandchildren Miles and Caitlin Yates and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Blessed Sacrament, 5050 8th Ave NE, Seattle, April 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seattle's Union Gospel Mission http://www.ugm.org or the Millionair Club Charity http://www.millionairclub.org/ .
