Ken Oliver was a long time resident of Seattle. He and his wife, Ann moved to Seattle in 1945. In 1949 they moved to the Mt. Baker District where they raised their 3 children. In 1969 they moved to Magnolia Bluff where they lived for 37 years, before they moved to the Edmonds and Shoreline areas. Ken was a long time member of the Wash. Athletic Club, the Elks Lodge #94 and the NW Furniture Assoc. Ken was born in Toronto, Canada and he and his family later moved to Los Angeles. He attended Belmont High School and UCLA where he majored in accounting. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and the tennis team. He met his wife Ann Berni, from Portland, OR, who was attending an art school in L.A., and they were married in Sept., 1940. Ken and Ann enjoyed many of the same things including golf, tennis and boating. During the war he worked in a munitions factory in Las Vegas. He was a successful furniture sales representative for several furniture manufacturers. He travelled throughout the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and sometimes Alaska. He had a great love for animals, sports, traveling and boating in the San Juans and Gulf Islands. After his retirement he and Ann spent much of their time traveling in their motor home throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. As they got older they enjoyed cruises on Holland America and every March and April they vacationed in Hawaii. Ken is survived by his devoted wife, Ann, his son and daughter-law Jim and Janet Oliver of Seattle; daughter Chris Oliver of California, daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Lloyd Burningham of Shoreline, five grandchildren, Mark, Suzie, Stacy, Katie, Jacob, and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Budworth of Pullman, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. No services will be held per his request. In memory of him, donations can be made to Woodland Park Zoo or a charity of your choice.
