Lillian Fox Obituary

Lillian "Jody" Fox

Lillian "Jody" Fox, passed away at home surrounded by her family on July 30, 2018 in Seattle, WA. Born in Seattle on June 14, 1930 Jody was the youngest of two children born to Lillian and Theodore Joten.

Jody met her husband of 62 years, Ivan Fox, in Ballard and were married in October 1951. They worked in the fishing industry together in Kodiak and Bristol Bay, AK. She was a bookkeeper and nurse for San Juan, NEFCO, Sea-Alaska, Ocean Beauty, and Nelbro Packing. She also graduated at the age of 42 with honors from Shoreline CC with a RN degree and was always proud until the end of her days that she had been a nurse.

She loved family above all else, but also enjoyed skiing, exercising, beagles, mocha's, marzipan, the theatre, Husky football, and QVC. She loved the outdoors and spent many days searching the NW for huckleberries and mushrooms. She also loved traveling the world and only missed Antarctica of the seven continents.

Jody was a compassionate person who believed in the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect. She is survived by her three children Christy (Robert) Allen, Mike (Judy Simon) Fox & Steve Fox; grandchildren Tyler (Rachel) Allen, Ashley (Jon Iams) Allen, Chelsea (Chris) Hemingway, Savannah Fox, Sean Fox; great grandchildren Ivan & Evelyn Allen, Hayden Hemingway and James Iams and her older brother Theodore Joten. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Jody was a generous person, she donated annually to over 30 charities. She also spent many hours volunteering at free clinics in the Seattle area. As you feel moved to do so, please give to your favorite organization in her name.

I spent one summer with Jody (and Bobby V) in the Uganik office in the summer of '76. Jody was a wonderful person and seemed to make a special point to make me feel comfortable in the new Alaskan environment for me. Although I've have just completed a long 38 year career at Boeing, managed groups of over 100 several times and raised a family; it's funny you always remember those who where kind to you along the waythose who have influenced you to some degree on how you treat and approach people. Jody was thatshe was ferocious when it came to her family, a hard worker, funny, but most of a kind and friendly person. Thank you family for sharing her with me for one short summershe meant a lot and will not be forgotten.
