Lorena Borg Obituary

Lorena Nadine

"Rena" Borg

Rena Borg passed away on December 15th, 2012 in Everett, WA. Rena was born May 9th, 1922 in Clayton, NM, to Lee and Amy Sutton. Lee and Amy and their three children, Eva, Rena, and Glen, relocated first to Portland, Oregon, and then on to Cowiche, WA, northwest of Yakima. Her parents worked in the many apple orchards in the area, eventually farming a small orchard of their own. These were tough economic times in the Country, but Rena often reflected back with fond memories of the good, healthy, homegrown food and close relationships with family and friends. At the outbreak of WWII Rena moved to Seattle to attend beautician school. She excelled as a hairstylist for almost 40 years. She then joined her husband Woody managing large apartment communities for several years. Rena had always tried to follow a life style that included nutritious, healthy food, no doubt a reflection of her earlier life on the farm. At an age when most people retire, she enrolled at Shoreline Community College, graduating in 1990 at age 68 with an Associate Degree in Dietetic Technology. She then began her final career at Parkshore Retirement Community. Rena was on the management staff as a dietician but it seemed her greatest enjoyment came from interacting with the residents.

Rena was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, grandson Tim, and her husband of 66 years, Woodrow C. "Woody" Borg. She is survived by her five children, Mike (Linda) Borg; Dave (Leslie) Borg; Trish Gilleland; Terry (Venessa) Borg, and Kristi (Ron) Blunk. Also, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Mary Sutton of San Diego, CA, and Ann Borg of Pleasant Hill, CA, their wonderful families, and many other beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 8th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. The church is located at 22209 58th Avenue West, Mountlake Terrace 98043; (425)775-7545.
