Margaret Fortin Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) Houk Fortin

Peggy passed away peacefully at home the morning of August 13, 2018. She was born March 30, 1927 in Salem Oregon to James and Maud Houk. The youngest of three daughters she was raised on the farm in Perrydale Oregon. There were no children around to play with so Peggy would cross the street to the school during recess to play with the kids.

Eventually the teacher let her stay and start school a year early. She also started early at Oregon State University, enrolling there at the age of sixteen. She was a member of Phi Gamma Delta sorority at OSU. She met Bill King at a school dance and they married in 1948. Together they had four children.

In 1968 Peggy earned a teaching degree from Seattle Pacific University while raising a family. This lead to twenty five happy years in the Shoreline School district teaching first graders.

Peggy married Robert Fortin in 1975. Together they enjoyed thirty five years of golf, travel and season tickets to both the Seahawks and Huskies.

An avid antique collector and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she was proud her heritage could be traced back to 1607 Jamestown VI.

Peggy had a special way about her everyone adored. She was a kind and tender LADY from the old school. When asked her greatest achievement in life she replied "raising her children".

Peggy is survived by her children Judi Magnuson, Bill King, Brad King, Barry King, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving her Fortin family, children Pam and Denise, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

While we are apart we will hold you in our hearts and Never let you go.

The family wishes to thank the Special Care staff of Northwest Hospital.
