Margaret Jean (Dority) CARTER Born April 9, 1926, at Waldo Hospital in Seattle to Robert and Margaretta Dority; died May 20, 2012, at her home in Shoreline. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Louis E. Carter; daughters Shirley (David) Urdal, Barbara (Daniel) Radin, Linda (John) Findlay; grandchildren Madalyn (Liz) and John (Claire) Urdal, Leslie and Benjamin Radin, Geoffrey and Gregory Findlay; and great-grandchildren Ava and Carter. Jean grew up in the University District, graduated from Lincoln HS ('43) and from the University of Washington ('47) with a degree in Art. She worked at Dority's Donuts, Frederick & Nelson's art dept., and then at L. E. Carter Co. for over 40 years. She loved to spend time with family and friends, travel, sew clothes and quilts, and dance - square, round and ballroom. As Lou recalls, "She was a good dancer." The family will celebrate her life privately at a later date.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
