Marilyn Urstad Obituary

Marilyn Urstad

Marilyn (Booty) was born in Seattle, Washington, on April 29, 1939, the third daughter of Walter and Evelyn Baechler. She passed away peacefully the evening of June 1, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Her niece, Denise Lewis, was at her side. A caring sister, loving aunt, loyal friend, and all-around fun person, Booty will be remembered by her quick wit which stayed with her till the end.

She attended St. Alphonsus and St. Benedict's grade schools and Holy Angels High School before working at Northern Life Insur-ance Company her entire career.

Throughout her life, Marilyn enjoyed playing cards with family members, good food, travel, gardening and the arts. She had no children but greatly loved all of her multitude of nephews, nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her innate kindness, generosity and easy laugh drew people to her wherever she went.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sherrie, and her second husband, John Allan. She is survived by her sisters Patricia Anderson (Steve), Barbara Lewis, and Rose Langford, and her brother Mike Baechler (Jennifer). She is also survived by her first husband, Ray Urstad, with whom she maintained an excellent friendship throughout her life, as well as her friend, Robert E. Lee.

Marilyn and Bob moved to Arizona several years ago, where she made many new friends and enjoyed her lovely home in the warmth of the sun.

Prayers will be offered during Mass on Saturday July 11 at 5 pm at St. Mark's (18033 15th Pl N.E. Shoreline, WA). A Celebration of Life will follow at 1136 Vista Place, Edmonds, WA.

I only met Marilyn a few years ago when I was invited to dinner at Bob's house along with my husband and daughter. I enjoyed her from the moment I met her. Her wit and charm and caring nature was amazing. I had the opportunity to enjoy her company again at a lovely concert and again felt like I had known her my entire life. She was a wonderful person and I'm sorry I will not be able to enjoy her company again, but at least I'm richer for having the memories of the time I did spend with her. My thoughts are with you Bob and her family and I'm sorry for your loss.

We moved to Goodyear from Seattle and Marilyn was our neighbor. She was such a wonderful person, we shared several happy hours and laughs. I had the opportunity to visit with her all the way to her day of passing and I am so glad for that. Dennis and I are forever grateful we got to meet and know her, we will MISS her tremendously.

She was loved by all who met her. She will always be in my heart and memories of her love and being there whenever I needed to talk. Her sense of humor drew people to her. She will be missed by many!

I will always remember her kind and caring nature, her jovial spirit, and her eating the gristle off my chicken wings. I miss her dearly.
