Marjorie Olmsted Obituary

Marjorie Rorrison Olmsted

Marjorie Rorrison Olmsted passed away January 8, 2018, at the age of 88. Born in Seattle, Marge graduated from Roosevelt High School as the class salutatorian in 1946, and graduated from the University of Washington in 1949. She married Eugene Olmsted in 1949, and had four children. Marge and Eugene enjoyed camping in the summer, and passed this love of the outdoors on to their children. They spent many happy years square dancing and assisting the Snoqualmie Valley Railway Historical Association.

Marge spent much of her professional life working at North Seattle Community College as the Class Registrar. She also worked for various other organizations, including Boeing, the State of Washington and the Seattle Public Schools. Marge was dedicated to serving her community, volunteering for many organizations including Cub Scouts, League of Women Voters, Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church, Mountlake Terrace Food Bank, and the Mountlake Terrace Senior Center. She loved solving puzzles, especially murder mysteries and crossword puzzles.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband Eugene in 1999. She is survived by her four children - David (Marlene), Paul (Patty), Jan Fitzpatrick (Jim) and Richard (Teresa), nine grandchildren (Brian, Elizabeth Mulkey, Eric, Stephanie, Mike Fitzpatrick, Jon, Patrick, Joe Fitzpatrick, and Monica), and one great granddaughter (Anna Mulkey).
