Remembering my mom today... 10 years ago I spent the last day in the skilled nursing room with her, mostly sleeping and resting on morphine. The grandkids dropped in to hold her hand and say one last "I love you." At midnight, the nurse said to me that she was close, so I called my brother and sister to come to her bedside. Once my sister Lisa arrived, she passed aways within 10 minutes at 2 am January 6th.
In the very busy and noisy semi private room at Richmond Rehab in Shoreline, it was peaceful to let her go. My sister and I retreated to the cafeteria to call our children.
The CNA dressed her in a pretty floral dress so we could say one last goodbye and we waited for the funeral home to arrive.
Always dreading the arrival of the hearse, comically they arrived in a minivan. We were ready for a laugh by that time. Then my siblings and I headed out in a caravan and navigated an icy Richmond Beach Road to a life without our beloved mother.

Mary Theresa brought so much joy and cherished company to my dad and the others she lived with at their adult family home and will be terribly missed. I loved the way she always looked so beautiful....I will never forget our family Thanksgiving together. It will, no doubt, be a long healing process as there is no greater loss than that of a wonderful mother.Knowing that she is at peace with her Lord and no longer in any pain shall be a comfort to you all. God bless....

Mom, God saw you getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
And whispered,
"Come with Me".
With tearful eyes we
Watched you slowly fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We would not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Your hard-working
Hands put to rest,
God broke our hearts
To prove to us
He only takes the best.
Sorry we could not help you anymore in the end.
It was my honor to care for you and the most incredible blessing to have you as my mother.
All my Love,
Mary Ann
