Marylee Schaeffer Obituary
Marylee Schaeffer of Lake Forest Park, Washington passed away on February 24, 2015. She was born on May 12, 1947 in Mt. Angel, Oregon to Francis and Adelene Hammelman. Soon after graduating from high school, Marylee moved to Seattle and worked at National Bank of Commerce (Rainier Bank) where she met her husband of 45 years, Joseph Schaeffer. They settled in the Wallingford neighborhood before relocating the family to Lake Forest Park in 1980. Marylee was a longtime parishioner, Faith Formation Director and dedicated volunteer at St. Mark Catholic Church in Shoreline. Throughout her life Marylee was known to welcome, inspire and celebrate all who came to know her. Marylee enjoyed quilting, traveling, attending the theater, gardening, dancing and nurturing her growing family. Marylee is preceded in death by her father Francis and sister Diane Sowa. She is survived by her mother Adelene, brothers Dan, Richard and Fr. William Hammelman, husband Joseph, daughter Tanya Laskelle (son-in-law Jason, granddaughter Chloe), son Ryan Schaeffer (daughter-in-law Ellie, grandchildren Anna and Reid), and son Brandon Schaeffer (daughter-in-law Erin, grandchildren Maeve and Sullivan).
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 3 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 18033 15th Pl NE, Shoreline, WA 98155. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center for Human Services in Shoreline, St. Vincent de Paul via St. Mark Catholic Church, or Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland.

I am sorry to ypur family for ypur loss of I am sorry for your loss of your loved one. Is she related to Rick(Richard ) Schaeffer who was my roommate in Cheney Wa. when we attended E. Wa State college in 1968-69?

I will miss Marylee so very much. She was very instrumental in my early days at St. Mark's when I was a new parishioner. She will be greatly missed in our parish for all that she contributed over so many years. She led by example and was admired by many for her devout faith, friendly attitude and lovely demeanor. God Bless you Marylee - please continue to pray for my family - I will miss you tremendously!
