Matt Jack Mathew McInnis obituary

Matt McInnis Obituary

(Matt) Jack Mathew McInnis

Matt departed gently to be with OUR LORD on July 28th 2012. Born May 8th 1966, he was a special gift on Mother's Day.

Left behind are his mother Joane Churchill McInnis/ Stone, step father Robert Edward Stone, brother Martin McInnis, sisters Jennifer McInnis Abrahamson (husband Aaron) and Diann Lundy, nieces Rachel McInnis, Sara Brock, and Jade Lundy Tollefson (husband Tyler and daughter Graya) and nephews Tad McInnis Gillman and Ryan Neal McInnis.

Preceding him in death were his father Neal Eugene McInnis, his step brother Monte Stone and his sister Lori McInnis.

Born in Seattle, Matt grew up in the Shoreline/ Lake Forest Park area, graduated from Shorecrest High School, earned a degree from Washington Votech in Electrical drafting and attended North Seattle Community College, where he studied Construction drafting. While just a teen he designed a remodel of office spaces in the Medical and Dental building in Seattle.

He worked for years in construction, some of those years for his brother's construction company, then after his leg injuries, in the electronics & photo department of Fred Meyers.

Matt had a zest for life. He loved skiing, dancing, singing, soccer, and his three little dogs that he shared with his special longtime friend Karen Jolley. He played soccer for the Shorelake Super Stars.

He was always singing, he had a lovely voice and was a member of the Chansongs, a singing group in high school.

With courage he bravely faced many physical challenges beginning at the age of 17 until his passing. Yet he was always cheerful and had a delightful sense of humor

Matt left us with many precious memories.

Please join us in a celebration of his short life on Sunday the 19th of August at the North West Church of Christ, 15555 15th Ave NE at four pm. You may call the family at 206-362-9676.

I'm not an eloquent writer, and even if I was, there are no words that can adequately the loss of someone such as Matt. Although I was only blessed to have known him for only one year, it was a year that was filled with laughter and getting to know one another. Matt was the kind of person who put everyone else's needs in front of his own. And although plagued with more than his share of bad luck, he always had a bright outlook and a sunny disposition. Rest in peace my friend.

Matt ~ you and I had some fun memories during elementary school.....
We were patrol partners... at 178th and 33rd... we would fight (in fun) to see who would get the "good side"... that meant who would get the side of 178th that could see up the street and see what type of vehicle was coming...he would stop the big semi trucks barreling down at 45mph (back then it was 45)....Matt would stick the flag out and stop them.... oh the trouble we would have got in had we got caught! we talked on facebook last year... giggling about it... I was glad he remembered, because it was a cherished memory... Cheers Matt~

I cannot believe that my friend of 25 years is gone. Joane and Bob took me in when no one else would and Joane became a second mom to me. I have so many memories of Matt it would take pages to fill! I remember our favorite deli up the street, water balloon fights in the front yard (sorry Bob!) hanging out with friends, boat trips with Marty, the birth of Tad and later the "girls" with Marty and his then wife, "our" cats Alex and Pierre, road trips, our many talks and so many more things.. We were there through good and bad times. We were there with laughter and tears. I will miss him so very much and my thoughts are with his family at this time. Matt was one of a kind and I loved him for that and will miss him for that. He was there for me when I needed him and so was his family and for that alone I will always love him. Goodbye my friend.

My condolences to the McInnis family. Matt was always full of laughter and a joy to be around. We lost contact after High School but had run into each other on occasion. He always had a good outlook on life. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I cannot belive that my friend of 25 years is gone. I have wonderful memories of not only Matt but his family as well. Joane and Bob took me in when no one else would and she was a second mother to me. I remember water balloon fights in the front yard (sorry Bob!), "our" cats Alex and Pierre, having a love of the deli up the street, so many things I would have to write pages about it. I will miss you Matt so very much and Joane and Jenny and Marty...I am so very sorry for your loss. I will always keep Matt in my heart as well as all of you. Even though he had his hardships, he had to be the most positive and up-beat person I've known. I will miss him so very much. All my love to the family....

I stood watching as the little boat sailed out to
sea. The setting sun tinted its white sail with a golden light.
And as it disappeared from view, a voice at my side whispered, he is gone.
But the sea was a narrow one, and on the furthest shore, a little band of friends had gathered to watch in happy expectation.
Suddenly, they caught sight of the tiny white sail. And at the very moment when my companion had whispered, he is gone, a glad shout went up in joyous welcome with the words, yes, here he comes!

~

It's hard for me to believe that you are no longer on this earth. I have such happy memories of you as a 'boy'friend growing up. Skateboarding, climbing trees, riding bikes, swimming at LFP Civic Club, soccer, riding my horse, church at St. Mark's, catching crawdads and minnows in Lyon's creek, 'scary' rides at the Seattle Fun Forest w/our group of friends, Julie, Brad, Katrina, 'dinner out' at Burger King w/my Mom as our chauffeur.
When I first heard of your passing, I said a prayer to my Mom asking that she please greet you upon your arrival. I felt her smile... she already had! May we all meet again and create more fun. All my love to you, and your family. Cory
