Maude Bassi Obituary
October 11, 1920~October 29, 2013
Maude was born to Peter and Emilie Knutsen of Duluth, Minnesota. She graduated from St. Olaf College in Minnesota with a degree in Home Economics. After a brief teaching career and working as a secretary for the railroad, Maude moved to Seattle, Washington in 1948. There she met and in 1950 married Robert W. Mathisen. They made their first home in Ballard, moving to Shoreline in 1964 and Edmonds in 1972. After Robert's death in 1985, Maude married Jacob (Boyce) Bassi in 1988 and moved to Whidbey Island. Boyce preceded her in death in 2001.
Maude is survived by her three children, Robert (Cheryl) Mathisen of Shoreline, Janet (Bob) Fisher of Coupeville, and Jack Mathisen of Coupeville, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Maude was a sweet, gracious person who was active in her church and as a volunteer in the community. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was a member of the Daughters of Norway- Ester Moe Lodge #39.
