Merle Claflin Obituary

Merle William CLAFLIN Merle William Claflin passed on March 11, 2012, at his home in Lake Forest Park. He was born in Spokane, WA on January 22, 1931. He graduated from John Rodgers High School and Gonzaga University. He had a long standing service with the Shriners as well as many other accomplishments. He has been treasurer of the Nile Shrine Center for the past 9 years, past Grand Master of the Layefette Lodge, fifty year member of the Scottish Rite Lodge, past Captain of the Drum and Bugle Corp, Chaplain for the Luzvaminda Lodge #317 and a board member of Portland Shrine Childrens Hospital. Merle loved boating, water skiing, roller skating and attended many other social events. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Alice, his sister Marlene, 4 children, 10 grand children and 5 great-grand children as well as a very large extended family. Services will be held at the Nile Shrine Center Friday, March 16th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of sending flowers please send donations to the Nile Shrine Center.

My dear sweet brother how I miss you so much. Our times as kids was the greatest. You were the best brother in the world. You took me everywhere you went from the time I was very little. You were my handsome brother with a heart of gold. You loved your family dearly and dont forget the dogs Daisy Mae and Tucker. They will miss you to. May God take care of you and God Bless. Marlene your sister.
