Nancy Alseth Obituary

Nancy MacKaye Alseth

Nancy MacKaye Alseth was born in Seattle on January 23, 1929. She attended Edmonds Elementary, Edmonds High School, and graduated from Franklin High School in 1947. She married her high-school sweetheart, Albert "Arnie" Alseth, on August 27, 1948. They raised their family of four children in what is now Shoreline. Nancy did volunteer work and creative projects, and for a number of years kept the books at Monarch Appliance. She took pleasure in decorating the house at Christmas, and produced many memorable holiday gatherings. She enjoyed time at the family summer cabin, lunch with friends (some from school days), cruising and traveling the world, and rooting for the Mariners. She was slowed by poor health in her later years, but was cheered by her dachshund, Sassy. Nancy relocated to New Orleans two years ago. She looked forward to meeting up again with those who passed on before, and - with her wits and sense of humor intact to the end - died peacefully in her sleep at age 83 on December 29, 2012.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, William and Myra (Gaffney) MacKaye, her brother Bill/Jerry MacKaye, and her husband of almost 60 years. Survivors include children Cindy L. Hadden (Dave), Vicki Alseth Molleston, Julie Alseth Newkirk (Brett), and Alan Alseth (Ronna Vigars); grandchildren Jessica Blakesley (Alex), Jamie Hadden (Sara), Bonnie Molleston (Sean Sands), Ema, Eddie and Adian Alseth; and great-grandchildren Ilan Peters, Finn Hadden, and Owen Sands. Private inurnment at Floral Hills, Lynnwood.
