Patricia Gebert Obituary

Patricia Anderson Gebert

Patricia Anderson Gebert died

peacefully in her sleep on December 12, 2015, at the age of 95, in Lake Forest Park, WA. She was born in Everett, WA on March 18, 1920. She graduated from Everett High School, then attended the University of Washington, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

She married her high school sweetheart and football hero, Wesley Robert Gebert, Jr., after he graduated from the US Naval Academy in December, 1941. He was immediately sent to the Pacific in WWII, while Pat helped in the war effort as a "Rosie the Riveter" at the Boeing plant in Everett. Pat 's brother, Harold J. Anderson Jr., also served in the war, but, sadly, was killed in the Marine landing at Tarawa.

As the wife of a career naval officer, Pat lived in many parts of the world. She loved traveling with her husband and four children throughout the United States, as well as living in Wiesbaden, Germany and Istanbul, Turkey. Her husband's career moves instilled in Pat a strong interest in travel which they continued to pursue after retiring in Santa Barbara, CA.

Pat enjoyed many other interests as well. While in college, she became a licensed seaplane pilot, and later enjoyed sewing, knitting, and gardening. But her main love was watercolor painting. She participated in many art shows and worked in a local Santa Barbara art gallery.

Surviving her are her four children, Carol Bowis of Bethesda, MD; Vicky Kingston of Seattle, WA; Shelley Everhart of Portland, OR and Brad Gebert of Salinas, CA. She also has four grandchildren, Todd Kingston of Bothell, WA; Stephanie Rincon of Lynnwood, WA; Christina Via of San Antonio, TX and Brian Bowis of Santa Monica, CA. She is additionally blessed with nine great-grandchildren.

We will all miss her love of life, her sense of fun and adventure and, most of all, her beautiful smile.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements will be held privately. Sign Pat's on line Guest Book at www.Legacy.com.

I didn't know Patricia but I recognized the name when I saw the obituary in the paper. Wes Gebert went to Everett High and then to Annapolis with my brother Jim Heg. Jiim passed away just last month, a few days before Thanksgiving. I remember many conversations in my family that included the names of Wes and Pat Anderson. I believe my sister Bety dated Pat's brother in high school, and though I was only 6 years old at the time, I clearly recall the sorrow we felt at news of his loss, so young, in that terrible war.
My heartfelt condolences go out to all your family for the loss of Patricia. What a lovely lady she must have been! It's sad to see so many of the generation leaving us.
