Patricia Reynolds Obituary

Patricia Elaine Reynolds

Patricia Elaine Reynolds, of Edmonds, Washington, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 20, 2018. She was 86 years old. She is survived by her brother, Wendell; husband, Jim; daughters Lori Reynolds and Sheri Metsker, ( Barry); son Jim (JR) Reynolds, (Nicki); grandchildren Jay Gates, (Shelene), Aimee Metsker, Taylor Metsker, (Mona), and Riley Reynolds.

Patricia was born on January 10,

1932 in Tea, South Dakota, to Ralph Smith and Hanna Heeren. She was the oldest of two children. The family moved from Tea to Vancouver, Washington during WWII when her father took a job at a Shipyard. The family then moved to Seattle to be near Hanna's siblings. They lived above a closed shoe store where Royal Brougham Pavilion is now located on the SPU campus.

Mom graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1950 and went to work at Seafirst Bank. Shortly thereafter, Mom met her future husband on a blind date! Pat and Jim were married in 1952 and enjoyed 66 years of marriage.

She worked at a grocery store in Kenmore early in the marriage, took a job at a travel agency, (where she was rewarded with many free trips...including one to Nome Alaska!), then as a receptionist for Doctor Robert Simpson in Kenmore for 20 years before she gracefully retired. She thoroughly enjoyed travelling and all the great times at Hood Canal with the clan, and after the children moved away, a lot of fun times in Yuma and Palm Desert, where they spent the winters for many years.

Pat was an independent person who was curious about the world. She had no fear of failure and took everything on head first! We loved that quality in our mom. Our mother was a very good bowler who won many local tournaments and she was very competitive. Mom took flying lessons, wanted to be a race car driver and threatened to sky dive, but she never learned to swim! She took golf lessons at Everett Community College and became a very good golfer while playing at Kayak Point and Skagit Valley CC. She loved bridge and any card games; loved crossword puzzles; and enjoyed music. She was the only mom we knew who went out and bought Beatles records when they were issued starting in 1964. And she listened to them all day long before pops got home! We kids loved it!

A celebration of life will take place on Sunday October 7th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the

Lake Forest Park Civic Club at 17301 Beach Drive NE in Lake Forest Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity in her name.

The family wishes to extend our gratitude to Prestige Family Home and Hospice Center for their caring and support during her final days.

So sad to hear of Pat's passing. What a beautiful lovely lady! Such fond and wonderful memories of growing up next door to the Reynolds family. Coming downstairs many mornings and finding Pat in her bathrobe sitting at our dining room table having coffee with mom. So much laughter and good times.

Thinking of you all at this sad time.

Love to all,
Patty Woodward (San Clement)

I have known Pat for about 20 years. She and Jim lived at Highland Park Condo's in Edmonds, and that is when I met her. Over the years, since moving to another condo, we would meet yearly for lunch or dinner and discuss our families and life in general. I will miss her laugh and hugs and the fun times we had. May she rest in peace now without pain or worry.

So very sad to hear of Pat's passing. So many wonderful memories of her in our 38th street neighborhood. So much joy and laughter around the Reynold's family. We spent a fun day with the family a few years ago reminiscing and laughing about the old days on 38th street.

Love to the entire family during these sad times.

Kim and I were saddened to hear about your beautiful Mother passing. She was always fun when we were youngsters and your family lived next door. She always had a smile on her face, twinkle in her eye and was ready for a good time.

We are happy we did have the opportunity to spend time with some of the 38th gang a few summers back at Lauries home.

We loved Pat and know she will be missed by many. Sending love to the entire family.
