I just happened to be reminiscing about my childhood and happened to think of a Pat Parlavecchia that I knew when I lived in Capehart housing at Luke AFB. We were best friends then although we went to different schools. She was going to a Catholic school at the time. I don't know if this is the same Pat but the age is right and her dad was military. If it is my friend, I'm so sorry to hear of her passing and that I never got to reconnect with her over the years. That seems to happen in military families. I know I have at least 1 picture of her, maybe more if anyone is interested. She sounds like she was a wonderful person and very loved.

Warm, full of heart, genuine, courageous, creative, caring, hard working, friendly, practical, Patti was an inspiration to me.
At heart, she was a pioneer. She loved her Shoreline neighborhood. As she was losing her sight, with her son still in her care, she very much wanted to be able to stay in the neighborhood as a tenant in an apartment on the unused portion of the Fircrest School campus. Her hope was that, living there, her "differently abled"son might be availed of Fircrest's medical resources. However, despite her former connection to the ARC and her request for their help toward that end, the ARC continued to oppose any such use of the property.
Had Patti been able to accomplish such reasonable and worthwhile use of fallow resources, she would have pioneered a breakthrough to opposition to using those portions of the Fircrest property for non-Fircrest School residents with disabilities. Many families would have benefited.
Although Patti's opportunity to be the first has passed, real potential remains for her dreams for such compatible development of the property + medical outreach. It will be a fitting legacy to her if it ever becomes reality.

My dear friend, I had no idea how ill you were, Funny how we spent the last year sharing thoughts, ideas, knowledge and experiences, we laughed at the challenges life brings and talked at length of the future ahead. Not a clue that it was almost at the end.
Still I sit in awe, I wasn't prepared to let you go. I wanted to see your dreams through. All I have left to hold onto, is knowing that God needs the good ones too! i feel extremely blessed to have had this time with you, your beauty will be with me forever. Connie

A beautiful garden now stands alone,
missing the one who nurtured it
But now she is gone,
Her flowers still bloom, and the sun it still shines,
But the rain is like tear drops, for the ones left behind,
The weeds lay waiting to take the gardens beauty away,
But the beautiful memories of its keeper are in our hearts to stay,
she loved every flower even some that were weeds,
So much love she would plant with each little seed,
But just like her flowers she was part of Gods plan,
So when it was her time he reached down his hand,
He look through the Garden searching for the best,
That's when he found Patsy, it was her time to rest,
It was hard for those who loved her, to just let her go,
But God had a spot in his garden, that needed a gentle soul,
So when you start missing Patsy, remember if you just wait,
When God has a spot in his garden, She'll meet you at the gate....
You will remain in my heart always Patsy,

No poem softly rolling from my lips,
Can tell my pain at losing you.
No song in piteous lament,
Give back the sorrow since you flew.
Since you flew to realms of light eternal,
From which you cannot return,
To keep me company once more.
We cannot meet until my final flight
Wings me to your side for ever more.

If roses grow in heaven,
Please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Sister's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
