Phillip Christopher Obituary
March 15, 1926 ~ January 21, 2014
Phillip Rector Christopher, 87, of Shoreline, WA, passed away after a long battle with COPD. He was born in Springfield, MO, where he graduated from Springfield High School and spent a year at Drury College. Phillip entered the Navy in 1944 and lived at Barbers Point near Pearl Harbor Hawaii. After an honorable discharge in 1946, he attended Southwest Missouri State for two years.
He joined The Boeing Company in Wichita, KS in 1948 as a production illustrator - his dream job drawing airplanes. In 1949, Phillip married Gloria Tee. The family moved to Edmonds, WA in 1967 when Phillip joined the Boeing 747 program in Everett, WA.
Phillip married Virginia Scaylea in 1976 and the two enjoyed life together for 36 years. They retired in 1987 and kept busy with various activities and involvement in St. Peter's Episcopal Parish.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Christopher, son, David Christopher, step-daughters Jodene Scaylea Hawkins, Annette Scaglia, Jill Chrisman, and Michele Scaglia. Family members include seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Parish on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM, reception following. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be designated to the Altar Guild at St. Peter's Episcopal Parish, 1610 S. King Street, Seattle, WA 98144. Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
