Richard Japar Obituary

Richard A. (Dick) Japar

March 12, 1942 ~ August 23 2015

The First-born child to Alice & Ted Japar, Dick attended Interlake Elementary, Hamilton Junior High, and Lincoln High School (1960). After 4 years in the Navy, Dick worked for the Atomic Energy Commission in the Aleutian chain. From there, he served on both police & fire departments at Anchorage Airport. Back in Seattle, he worked for Maust Transfer and Shoreline Park Dept. until retirement.

A lifelong sportsman, Dick always found his way to the closest wilderness to pursue his passions...Hunting in Alaska, Montana or his favorite spot in the Methow...Fishing in Green Lake as a kid, Orcas Island, or with his fishing buddy/mother-in-law, Ida Simpson, in Idaho... There was simply no more dedicated sportsman than Dick.

Dick was a Seahawk season ticketholder from the beginning. He loved his dogs, his Mariners, his '61 Corvette, and most of all, his family.

Dick passed away after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna (Simpson) Japar, brother Bob Japar (Nancy), niece & nephew, Kristin & Jeff Japar, his sister, Jani Japar, his "extra sister" Mimi Racicot, and the entire Simpson family, such a big part of his life.

There will be a celebration of Dick's life at Nile Golf Club, on Sunday, Sept. 20 from 1pm-4pm. 6601 24th SW, Mountlake Terrace, 98043.

Both Barbara and I were deeply saddened by the notification of Dick's passing. We both loved and remember the special times we shared so many, many years ago. Having lost our youngest daughter to this terrible disease a few years ago makes us acutely aware of a portion of the loss borne by his family and friends. His is missed terribly by us. God Bless and keep each of you through this ordeal. Bud and Barbara Knight. Solvang CA

We always enjoyed hearing Dick tell about his time in Alaska, his hunting and fishing trips, and his Corvette. We will cherish these memories forever. Sending our Love to Donna and family.
