Robert (Rob) J. DOWNER Robert (Rob) J. Downer, born January 2, 1955 in Oakland, CA and grew up in Shoreline, WA., passed away after a short courageous battle with cancer on December 26, 2011. Rob loved playing his drums, guitar and singing with several different bands. Rob loved telling jokes and was a great impersonator of John Wayne, Rodney Dangerfield and Johnny Carson just to mention a few. Rob was a perfectionist and loved reading. He is survived by his partner Lisa of 30 years, who was by his side continuously. He also is survived by his father Jim, sister Cheryl and brother Tom. There will be a memorial at a later time. Remembrances can be made in Rob's name to Evergreen Hospice of Kirkland, WA.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

We were so saddened by the loss of Rob on December 26th....... he was a great guy who left us far too soon. He was blessed with many gifts... a great musical talent with a wonderful singing voice....and a damned good guitarist and drummer. We enjoyed seeing him in bands around Seattle, but we most enjoyed listening to him sing alone in his living room, just relaxed and low-key... just Rob and his guitar. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see that very often, but it was a special treat whenever we did. He also had a great talent for impersonations of the famous, our favorite being Johnny Carson, but we especially loved his impersonations of family members, which were absolutely hilarious !!! He had the power of making others laugh.....to be around Rob was like watching an episode on Comedy Central. His laughter and wit was contagious and it was impossible not to burst into laughter after just being around him for a few minutes. The things we will always remember most about Rob are his down to earth authenticity and easy going style, his great sense of humor, his passion for music, cats, and his collection of golf carts. Wherever Rob is right now, I'm sure he's keeping everyone entertained, joking & clowning around with his endless humor. My heart aches for his family who are grieving and missing him. May they find comfort in knowing many people share in their sadness. Mark and I raise a toast to Rob with a "good cold beer"..... it was an honor to know him, and he will be deeply missed. He is leaving us with many cherished memories and he will be in our hearts forever. Mark and Diane
