Rose Falseni Obituary

Rose Montanaro Falseni

August 10, 1924 ~ October 30, 2012

Rose was born in Endicott, New York to Caterina Panaro and Antonio Montanaro in August 1924. In December 1944 Rose married Edward Swartout and their son Bruce was born in May 1946. In August 1952 Rose and Bruce moved to Seattle to join her family. In November 1955 Rose married Frank Falseni and moved to Capitol Hill.

Rose's 40-year career included jobs ranging from saleswoman for Taylor Women's Fashions in downtown Seattle to supervisory positions at Safeco and Great American Ins. Companies. Rose also enjoyed her volunteer work at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Shoreline, WA.

Family was the most important part of Rose's life and Sunday dinners were a long-time tradition. Rose loved doting on her grandchildren Zac and Chaiara, and welcomed them in her home for summer and holiday visits. She loved travel and visited Caterina and Antonio's families in Italy. Her travels also included trips from New York to California where she visited family and friends.

Her strength and love touched everyone she met. She always had an ear for anyone who needed to talk and was never judgmental. Rose gave advice when asked, requiring nothing in return.

Rose is survived by her husband Frank; son Bruce, daughter-in-law Pam; and grandchildren Zac and Chiara Swartout; her sister, Angie and brother-in-law Augie Roberts; her brother Jack Montanaro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements as follows: Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Beck's Funeral Home 405 - 5th Ave. S, Edmonds; Visitation 10-11am; Interment to follow at Holyrood Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St., Shoreline at 11:30 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 18826 - 3rd Ave. NW in Shoreline at 2:30 pm; with reception to follow.

Suggested donations: Hospice of Snohomish County or Puget Sound Kidney Center in Mountlake Terrace, WA.

I have had the pleasure of talking with Rose freqently over many years - I always felt blessed when she'd call as I knew laughs were to come during our conversation. I'm not family but she treated me like it. She even invited me to her family reunion in the local Edmonds Park one year - it was there that I saw just how passionate she was about her family. She spoke of Bruce, Pam, Zac and Chiara on just about every call updating me as to what they were all doing. She loved Frank with all her heart and would lovingly kid about his golf or meeting up with his buddies. She seemed tickled when we brought our puppy up to see Frank telling him not to get used to having a dog around - I'm not sure who had more fun, Rose, Frank or Picard. She was an inspiration - getting on her bike in the garage and cycling away to keep her fitness even when she did not feel good. She'd always ask about my parents - "And how's Daddy doing" she'd say knowing he too had medical issues. With Rose it was all about everyone else. She sweetly touched every soul she ever came into contact with. I can still hear that lovely laugh of hers. I will miss her more than words can express. I love you Rose. And Frank, Rob and I are here for you if you need anything at all. Kelly and Rob

Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning around 9:00am in walks Rose. "Good morning Rose Bud", I say. She replies "Good morning Sweet Pea" and our journey for this day together begins. She would crack me up when she'd ask me "Are you new?!" if I wasn't fast enough or "Why do want to know?" when asked for her ID #. She shared her love freely with hugs & kisses for everyone. She was a very special lady and I will miss her very much. I love you Rose and I'm glad you're not in pain anymore. I'll see you again :) Take comfort in the arms of our Lord.
Prayers of comfort for you Frank. May God Bless you and enfold you always with His Love and Blessings (I borrowed the last line from a hand written card from Rose to me) :) XOXO

This woman was very special to all that knew her. She was loving, caring and was very strong in her faith. She has carried the family torch since our beloved Grandmothers passing. She was always there when you needed her. I am who I am today because of her. I love you Zizi Rose.
