Been thinking a lot about Mr. Easton and all the happy memories. He will forever be one of my favorite teachers ever. Here is a mid 90s picture for Husky Band Day. I am the one in red and black.

Royages was a man that you do not easily forget. I met him at the UW and worked with him at Longacres race track.
He always had a smile on his face and he would quickly turn a tough situation into one we would all later laugh about.
I will never forget the terrific red, white and blue outfit that he wore on July 4th. He was "the man"!
God bless Royages and his wonderful family,
Walt

Memories of Appreciation: In this time of social distancing for a viral infection risk, I can remember how Royages' laugh and smile could knock down distances and bring deep joy to the situation. He walked and talked love and compassion. Such a memory and example for the days we are in currently. Wishing Nadiyah and family all the love and compassion during this season of changing routines and activities. May God's grace overwhelm and complete each day.

Mr. Easton was my PE teacher in elementary school. His passion for teaching kids always shined through, and he always taught students how to try their best in gym class. It's no wonder that everyone had such tremendous respect for Mr. Easton throughout the years, including my classmates and teachers.
After the bus crash that occurred on the Aurora Bridge in the late 90s, Mr. Easton spoke to us about how it personally affected him. He said he knew that bus driver well, and then he held out his hand to show that it was still shaking from learning of the news. That just showed me how much Mr. Easton cared for his community and that he had immense compassion. It also showed us kids how we could think about loss and the well-being of others. Mr. Easton always modeled honor and respect for others.
I'll always remember the pictures of Mr. Easton on the wall by his office. Dawned in football pads and purple and gold husky colors, with a look of determination on his face, it was just one of the things that made me respect him so much. It's been a couple of years since his passing, but the imprint he left on me (and his community) will last and last. Thank you so much Mr. Easton, and to his family, God Bless.
RIP Mr. Easton

I'm not sure why I thought of Coach Easton this morning - maybe because it is Thanksgiving and I have been reflecting on all those people that have had an influence in my life. Maybe it is because it is Apple Cup this week and I looked forward to seeing Coach at Husky basketball games.
I was a 3-sport athlete at Nathan Hale HS and football was by far the most challenging experience I had. We didn't win many games but more than that we lacked continuity in our coaching, leadership and mentorship. Coach was the shining light for myself and many of my teammates. He was positive, uplifting and a great teacher. Even in the most challenging situations he would find the silver lining. He motivated us to be our best and when our best wasn't good enough he would encourage us to be better. You would never want to let Coach down. Because as much as he cared about results on the field, he cared more about us as people. He liked to tell stories and we loved to listen.
There was something comforting about his laugh and his smile. You knew everything was going to be alright if you just kept pushing forward. I am sorry to hear of Coach's passing. Sorry for the loss for the family and friends who were so close to him and so lucky to have him in your lives on a daily basis. To know and feel the impact he had on me through 2 years of football 30+ years ago, I can only imagine the impact on your lives.
On this Thanksgiving and Apple Cup Eve, I give thanks for Coach Royages Easton for all he gave to many young people and the impact he had on others through our lives. May his laughter bellow and his smile light up Heaven as they did here and still do in our hearts.
To the friends and family who knew and loved him so dearly, I thank you for sharing him with us. May God bless you each day with the imprint of love, lessons and laughter left on your heart by a wonderful man and Coach!

Such a surprise to find Royages' obituary notice this evening. Blessings to you, Nadiyah and family members, for the fond memories we have had together years ago. I cherish these memories amidst the activities over the years. God's been doing amazing things over the years. I so appreciate your family's contribution. Thank you.

Dear Easton Family,
I was saddened to hear of Mr. Easton's passing. I was at a work function and a coworker whom also had him as a teacher told me. Mr. Easton was hands down the best teacher I ever had. I came to Olympic View Elementary School in the middle of 1st grade and he made me feel so welcome. Through the years he had my brother and some of my cousins. All of us share very very fond memories of him.
In High School I saw him again at a Huskies game and I asked him if he remembered me and he gave me the BIGGEST bear hug and said of course. My memories of Mr. Easton will last forever. He was a great man and will be missed greatly.

Dear Easton Family,
I first met Roy at Franklin High, then reconnected at UW. How proud we all were that our school was represented on the college playing field! Later, I would see him regularly at UW Basketball games, always with his big smile and loving hand reaching out to everyone. Roy certainly made the universe a happier place. My heart goes out to you all; may his memory forever be a blessing for family, community and the entire world. RIP, old friend.

My Brother Roy,
May your soul rest in peace. Thank you so much for your friendship as a teammate at Franklin and at the University of Washington. I learned a lot from you about the power of a smile and laughter. I always share the thought that we do not have to live life through our scars. You have always been one of my shinning examples. The fact that you met your challenges and lived your life as a man of principal and love is a priceless gift to your family and your friends.

My sincere condolences for your loss. I remember Royages (Roy) from his days at Shoreline Community College where we played football together. I remember him as kind person with a great sense of humor and a fabulous laugh. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure and good fortune to meet Roy working at the U of W athletic events. 21 years of fun, laughter, heartfelt conversations. As a fellow teacher I enjoyed hearing Roy tell "school stories". His love for teaching was so apparent. A big personality, a big man, a big heart. We car pooled after some evening events at the U and having Roy's undivided attention was a joy. My best to his family and to the many many students who were lucky enough to get "the word" from Mr. Easton.
Sincerely,
Mike Colacarro Jr.

Dear Nadiyah & Family,
I just read about Royages passing. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our relationship began at Olympic View. He provided a well balanced PE program for all the students. He was teaching there when I arrived and stayed on after i left. He gave many students through the years the best of himself both as a teacher and as a friend.
Most memorable to me was his character as a man. He approached life with a positive attitude and a sincere love for people. This spirit of acceptance and carrying for others drew everyone to him. He had the respect of all the students, his colleagues, and parents.
I will not be at the memorial service as at the age of 85, i do not travel much since moving to Vancouver, Wa. But I will be thinking of you, Lamar and the rest of the family. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Bob Stone
