Ruth McQuaker Obituary

Ruth Chamberlin (Reiss) McQuaker

Ruth was born in New Jersey on June 8, 1922, to Alvin and Katherine Chamberlin. After graduating from her local high school, Ruth attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA., was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and graduated in 1943 with a BS degree in Commerce and Finance. She married Bill Reiss, a graduate of Rutgers, in 1945 and moved to Short Hills, NJ, and started a family. After Bill was transferred by AT&T to Seattle in 1961, they lived in the Blue Ridge neighborhood of Seattle until 1974. Ruth met and married George McQuaker in 1983 and shared eleven happy years with him in Broadview until his death in 1994. Ruth died of complications following a stroke on December 16, 2012. She is survived by her son, Doug Reiss, Redmond, WA, and her daughters Nancy Reiss Pietromonaco, Kirkland, WA, and Katherine T. Carpenter, Canby, OR, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is survived also by George's daughter, Nancy Pearl, Walnut Creek, CA, and her extended family. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2:00PM, at Aegis of Shoreline, where Ruth resided for the last seven years of her life.
