Sandra Kay Rue DEVOIR Sandra passed away gracefully at home on January 29, 2012. She was born on August 4, 1960, in Lompoc, CA to Roland and Dorothy Rue. She grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Mt. Tahoma High School, received her Bachelor's Degree in education from Central Washington University, and her Master's Degree from Lesley College. In 2009 Sandy proudly earned her National Board Certification. She loved being a teacher. She lived in Shoreline with her husband Steve and her family. Sandy loved her family and friends, and we all loved her back. Being with her made us better people. Her friendly spirit and laughter lit up our lives - she had a smile for everyone. She connected with people - her ideas, adventures, and projects brought us together. Sandra was an athlete her entire life. She played volleyball at both the collegiate and elite club level. She enjoyed golf, biking, hiking, climbing, and fishing with her sons, along with many other activities and hobbies. She lived life to the fullest. Sandra's family was her greatest source of joy. She is survived by her husband Steve, her sons Tom and Ryan Bullock, their father Skip Bullock, her son Ben Devoir and his wife Jennifer, and her daughters Erin and Jessica Devoir. She is also survived by her mother Dorothy Rue, and her sisters Sharon, Janet, and Kathryn Rue. She was preceded in death by her father Roland Rue. Sandra faced difficult health challenges during her last two years, but she never let cancer define her or limit what she could do. She inspired and astonished us with the amount of living she packed into each day. She was a strong and beautiful woman. At her request, there will be no funeral service. Remembrances in her name may be made to the Food Lifeline of Shoreline, the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, or to Northwest Hospital. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I´m 32 years old now, but Ms Bullock was my 3rd and 4th grade teacher at Mukilteo Elementary back in the mid 1990s. I´ll never forget her or the memories I made in "P3" (portable #3). I will always remember her as a woman ahead of her time- always fascinated and excited about the latest technologies- digital cameras, computers. She has such a zest and excitement for life. One time we transformed our portable into the International Space Station. She was the first person to bring to our attention the world of Harry Potter, reading us chapters from the first 3 books in class most days (this was before the movies came out). I remember she was able to "loop" up with us same group of kids and also be our 4th grade teacher the next year. We were all so excited about this when we found out we´d be sticking together as a class for a whole `nother year- this felt uncommon at the time. Maybe she saw something special in us group of 3rd graders. I hope she knew we saw something special in her too. Thanks for everything Ms Bullock. It was a magical, formative time in my life. I heard about her passing years ago and she has continued to visit my thoughts. I remember telling my own mother in 2012 the news, and how I remembered her in such a detailed and positive way. My mom goes "that´s really nice you remember all of that about her", I have since lost my own mom in 2021. I am incredibly sorry for her family for the loss. I remember how proud she was of her boys back then.

You're my guardian angel Sandy. I know you watch over me and my kids every day and I know you hear my prayers. I know you're sitting beside that lake, looking out on the beauty that God has created for you. I miss you.

I was shocked to hear about Sandy. We lost contact when we moved away from Mukiteo. We did bible study at MPC and played indoor soccer together. She was an excellent athlete and such a wonderful, fun loving person. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Our deepest condolences to your entire family. We had the good fortune to have Sandy as our daughter's teacher for two years (3/4 split & 4th grade) and also as I-movie club advisor for our son at Mukilteo Elementary. May it bring you comfort to know the lasting impact she has made on the future generation. She was an amazing, beautiful, and kind human being who will be missed by many.
Sincerely,
Mitch, Eileen, Shelly, & Joey Davis

Sandy was one of the sweetest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Though I did not know her well, she always had a smile and a kind word for me whenever we spoke. May the light of her memory continue to shine brightly on those she touched throughout her life. My deepest condolences to her family.

Sandy was one of our child's favorite teachers, and mine too! Every child that had her as a teacher was lucky. She was inspirational and motivational. Thank you, Sandy, for all that you did for the children of Mukilteo Elementary.

One of my favorite memories of Sands was when we would ride out bikes thru Wapato Park. We liked the challenge of riding thru the WHOLE park, taking ALL the curves with no hands. We were quite proficient at it too, I might add....Until Sands decides to try it with no feet to! There I was, riding behind her in astonishment as she placed her feet on the center bar, hands in the air, as we rounded our first curve.....That lasted about 3 seconds, and down she went, as her bike kept going and rounded the curve....without her.
Our family had the privilege of being neighbors to the Rues. We had many adventures in our little block and I have great memories, thanks to great friends.
I will never forget her!
To the Rues, Bullock and Devoir Family my heartfelt sympathies and love,
Carolyn and all the Galla-girls

Dear Loving Devoir, Rue and Bullock Family of Sandy,
We are so deeply saddened to hear of the loss of our dear Sandy. Her presence and smile absolutely lit up our restaurant so brightly and her soul illuminated our hearts. I can truly say that of all of the hundreds of people that I meet each week, Sandy is and will always be one of my favorite women in the whole world.
She was the example of grace, generosity and kindness. It is true, we are all better people because Sandy touched our lives in her own special way. We will always remember her and her smile will live on in our hearts.
May you soar with the Angels in Heaven and may you rest in eternal peace until we all meet again. Lovely, Dear, Precious, Sandy, Thank you for sharing your life with us. We will never, ever forget you.
With Deepest Sympathies,
Helen and Natsuyoshi Toyoda

She was the epitome of grace and peace and gave so much to sooo many. If everyone lived their life like Sandy, this world would be a better place. Her legacy will live on and on and the people she touched know how special she was. Her soul was alive and heaven is a brighter place with her.
