Shirley Hogle Obituary

Shirley Janette (Lothe) Hogle

Shirley passed away at her home in Sun City West on Sunday, November 16th, 2014, just past Midnight. She had been weakened by Breast Cancer over these past 21/2 years. Shirley was born to Reba & Lawrence Lothe in Madison, Wisconsin on August 19th, 1935. She moved with her family to Washington State in the early 1940's, going to schools in Kent, Bremerton & finally moved to Phinney Ridge, Seattle. She attended Hamilton Junior High & graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953.

She attended a Business College and landed a position with Prudential Insurance Company. She met her Future Husband, Brock Hogle, in 1955, the year he graduated from the UW & received a Reserve Commission in the US Air Force. They dated while he attended UW Grad School. She became engaged just before he reported for Active Duty on Christmas Day, 1956.

They were married in Saint Benedict's Catholic Church on August 24, 1957. They flew to Houston, Texas where Brock was going to Navigator School at Ellington AFB. Shirley went to Prudential & got a job there. Their first Duty Assignment was an Air Refueling Squadron in Bangor, Maine. Shirley went to work at Prudential there. Brock became a Navigator on a SAC COMBAT READY CREW, flying KC-97 TANKERS, built in Renton, Washington.

When Brock's Crew went TDY to the Azores for 90 days, Shirley went by Greyhound to Seattle to work in the Insurance business, her fourth Insurance job in 4 different states. She returned to Bangor and Brock finished out his 3 year Active Duty Requirement.

They bought a home in Shoreline in 1960, where their Daughter Colleen was born. Their Son Scott was born in 1964. She was a STAY AT HOME MOTHER, there for the family. After both children graduated from College, they sought Sunshine & Blue Skies in Sun City West, AZ, buying a home there in 2009. They sold their Shoreline home on Halloween, this year & are now Full Time residents in Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Reginald, Sister Audrey & Daughter Colleen. She is survived by Husband, Clifford Brock Hogle, Son Scott Brian Hogle & Brother Donald Lothe. No services are planned, per her request. Her Ashes will be added to the family Nitch in Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, next to Colleen's remains sometime in the near future.
