Thomas MacGeorge Obituary
Thomas H. MacGeorge passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Tom was born in Seattle, March 6,
1927 to Margaret Agnes Marriot MacGeorge and Thomas Hamilton MacGeorge. Raised in North Seattle with his brother Jim, Tom went to Ronald grade school and attended Lincoln High school where, in 1946, he and his brother were members of the State Championship basketball team. Tom continued his education at the University of Washington where he played football but more importantly met his future wife Paula. Tom and Paula were married on September 9, 1950. Tom then attended the U of W Dental School from 1950-1954. Early married life was in Seattle until dental school graduation and the Air Force took the young couple to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Upon returning home, Tom started his dental practice in Ballard. In 1964, Tom specialized in Orthodontics and in 1966, began his 26 year career in Orthodontics in Shoreline.
Tom and Paula raised their family of 3 children in North Seattle. Long-time members of Seattle Golf Club, golf was a common theme for the family growing up as were summers at Fisherman's Alibi on Whidbey Island. Tom and Paula retired to Whidbey Island in 1992. Always the engineer with an inquisitive mind, Tom was fond of fixing things, driving the backhoe, crabbing, keeping the soft ice cream machine full and enjoying the island life with family and friends. He leaves a legacy that everyone close to him strives to uphold.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife Paula on November 14, 2011. He is survived by his brother Jim from Los Angeles, daughter Pam Lee (Jim) of Everett, son Stephen MacGeorge (Lisa) of Shoreline, and son William MacGeorge (Linda) of Seattle. Bumpa as he was fondly known, leaves 7 grandchildren; Christine Cronin (Brian) and Jamie MacGeorge Lee; Andrew, Christopher and Elle MacGeorge; Stuart and Nancy MacGeorge, and 3 great grandchildren, Kellen, Jack and Anna Cronin.
By Tom's request, there will be a private family ceremony and a celebration of life at a later date.
