Velva Kranzl Obituary

Velva Kranzl

Velva, age 96, was the only child of Bertha and Frank Young. She was born Aug. 29, 1917 in Scofield OR and died peacefully Aug. 4, 2014 in Shoreline WA. While working in downtown Seattle she met the love of her life, Al Kranzl. They enjoyed 63 years together and had two daughters, both born on April 12, but four years apart. After she retired from The Bon Marche, Al & Velva enjoyed being snow birds in Apache Junction AZ for 24 years. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and Doric Lodge Order of Eastern Star where she was Worthy Matron in 1956. She also was past Guardian of Bethel 6, Order of Jobs Daughters.

Mom was a breast cancer survivor for over 20 years, a leg amputee and also suffered from macular degeneration. Even with all these obstacles, she was able to get around and enjoy life until the last couple of years. She never met a slot machine she didn't like.

She is survived by daughters Char Kostanich and Lorraine (Bob) Ferguell, grandson Albert Kostanich (Jen) and step grandsons, Bubba and John (Adrienne) Ferguell and five great grandchildren, Analysa, Serena and Grace Kostanich and Alex and Kaylin Ferguell.

Private services were held.

Thank you to the staff at Anderson House for all their care and dedication to making our mother comfortable and happy.
