Vera Adamson Obituary

Vera Adamson

Vera Adamson, born May 5, 1934, died at the age of 83 on September 21, 2017, surrounded by family. Vera was born in Seattle and raised in Edmonds, the second of five children of Jens Peter Sorenson and Doris Bradshaw. She attended Edmonds High School and kept contact with her Edmonds schoolmates. At the age of 16 she got a job at Colgroves restaurant. This started her 42 year career at such restaurants as Ray's Boathouse, the Hungry Turtle, and the Arts Food Center Cafe, near her home in Ballard.

Vera married Earl Adamson in 1998 and they lived in Kenmore. She called him the love of her life. They spent their retirement years together: square dancing, traveling the world, and entertaining in style for friends and family. Vera was active in the Ballard Emblem Club 216, serving 3 terms as president. She was especially known for her Victorian Tea fundraisers. Earlier this year Vera moved back to Ballard to be near friends and family. This exciting new season in her life was sadly cut short.

Vera is survived by her daughters Deborah Keppler and Lorraine Silva; her grandchildren Deanndra Keppler, Derrick Keppler, Tucker Silva and Madison Silva; her sister Diana Dennis; many nieces and nephews; and step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved.

Vera was predeceased by her husbands: Robert D Smith (the father of her children), William B Striker, and Earl W Adamson; and by her siblings Carl Sorensen, Hugh Sorensen and Lorraine Berg.

I was so sad to hear about Vera passing. Vera was such a great person and I loved seeing her with her big smile and amazing personality. I work at Bank of America and she always came to see me and I really enjoyed talking to her and hearing her stories. I had just realized that I hadn't seen her in a few months and wanted to reach out when I noticed she has left this world. I send many prayers to your family and please know Vera touched many of us and she will be truly missed.

I met Vera and her late husband Earl at the Dudes & Dolls Square Dance Club. They were a friendly wonderful couple and you could tell that they dearly loved each other. Sometimes Vera would share her husband with us for a dance, which we really appreciated.

She was really a sweetheart and we all will miss her very much.

Wonderful memories of her,

Vera will be missed. I met her long ago when I was a college student at Seattle U and worked with her at the Hungry Turtle Restaurant, she on the day shift and I in the evenings. It was an extraordinary group of people at the Hungry Turtle and Vera was in the mix working "the front deck" lunches at the Hungry Turtle. She and I stayed in touch throughout all these years. Vera, I hope you are dancing in your new adventures! Fond memories! Condolences to her family. Denise von Pressentin
